Other Doctors
When practice doctors are away on
business, locum doctors run their surgeries. We try to work with the same locums
whenever possible to prevent too many new faces.
The practice encourages
fully qualified hospital doctors to join the practice for up to one year. This
doctor has the title of GP Registrar.
Administration
Primary Care Manager - Adrian Kirsop
Office Manager - Sheila Konstanczak
We also employ eleven reception/administrative staff plus two medical secretaries,
who may be able to help you with general enquiries about the service we offer.
Health Care Team
Members
Practice Nurses
Three sisters run surgeries alongside
the doctors - Sally Beedles, Anne Morris and Charissa Daniels. They
offer advice on a variety of health problems, give injections, offer travel advice
and immunisations, undertake cervical smears, dressings, ear syringing, blood
pressure, health checks and teach breast awareness.
Nurse-led clinics are run on a regular basis and include care for people suffering
from diabetes, coronary heart disease, asthma and COPD.
All the sisters are able to offer contraception advice and assist the doctor
in the family planning clinic which is run on alternate Wednesday afternoons.
For travel advice, you need to see the nurse at least six weeks before you travel
to ensure full immunity and allow time for any special vaccines to be ordered.
Not all travel vaccines are available on the NHS and therefore require private
payment.
For cervical smears please attend between day 10 and 16 of your menstrual cycle.
Counsellor
We have a counsellor in the surgery
every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. Libby Pugh or Sylvia Hopkins will
take referrals only from doctors at the surgery.
Health Visitors
Jackie Higgs is the link Health Visitor to the Practice and works closely with all members of the team.
Together with her colleagues, Jackie is available to offer advice and support concerning all children under the age of 5 years and can be found either in one of the many clinics around the community or by telephone: 01743 452300 9.00am – 5.00pm Monday – Thursday and 9.00am – 4.00pm Friday.
The immunisation session is held on a Tuesday morning between 9:30am – 12:30pm. Any queries with your immunisation appointment can be dealt with by Child Health HQ on 01743 450800 or by leaving a message with the reception staff.

Community Midwife
A midwife from the team at the Royal
Shrewsbury Maternity Hospital can be contacted on 01743 261000 ext 3868.
A clinic is run at the surgery every
Tuesday afternoon. Phone reception to book an appointment. Your antenatal care
is usually shared with the midwife and your own doctor, sometimes with the involvement
of the hospital.
Physiotherapy
Alan Leigh currently runs
physiotherapy sessions every Wednesday and Friday. A referral from
your GP is required. Initial assessments usually take 40 minutes and follow up
appointments 20 minutes. This service is for musculo-skeletal problems only.
Other problems requiring physiotherapy, eg stroke, will be referred to the hospital
service.
Mytton Oak Good
Neighbours Scheme
The Good Neighbours Scheme attached
to the medical practice continues to operate very successfully. The scheme is
run by more than 80 volunteers, all patients of the practice, who provide a range
of simple services for other patients who may be in need of help. These include
giving people a lift when they would not otherwise be able to get out or keep
an appointment, collecting a prescription, doing some shopping, small DIY tasks
or simply befriending a lonely person and having a chat.
If you are sometimes in need of help with no one to turn to and think the Good
Neighbours Scheme could help you, please telephone the scheme's Helpline
on 07830 456327. The recorded message you will hear will give
you the telephone number to ring that day, and someone will answer that number
if you call between 10.00am and 5.00pm, and will do their best to help. The scheme
does welcome voluntary donations in return for help, but this is by no means
essential.
If, on the other hand, you think you may be able to offer to give some help to
others, then the scheme is always looking for more volunteers. More people with
cars who are willing to give lifts, often to the surgery or to the hospital,
would be particularly welcome. If you can devote some time, however little, and
would like to become a volunteer, please telephone Jan Bound on 01743
850573 or ask for a volunteer application form at the surgery. Any out-of-pocket
expenses incurred by volunteers will be reimbursed.
Zero Tolerance
All staff at the surgery have the
right to carry out their work without threat of violence. The practice has a
policy of removing from our list any patient who is physically or verbally abusive
or threatening towards any member of staff or other patients. We are committed
to treating all our patients with respect; we feel our staff are entitled to
the same respect.
Freedom Of Information
- Publication Scheme
The Freedom of Information Act 2000
obliges the practice to produce a Publication Scheme. A Publication Scheme is
a guide to the ‘classes’ of information the practice intends to routinely
make available. This scheme is available from reception.
